WARNING: Batteries contain corrosive liquid. Always wear approved gloves and goggles when handling batteries or battery acid.If battery acid contacts skin, wash off immediately and contact a doctor for further advice.

STAGE 1 – DESULFATION

In this initial stage, a high-frequency voltage pulse (0.5 seconds on, 0.8 seconds off) helps “wake up” a deeply discharged battery. This pulse charging process can also reduce sulfate crystal buildup on the battery plates caused by extended discharge periods. If the battery voltage is greater than 4 volts after 3 minutes, the charger moves to the next stage.

STAGE 2 – SOFT START

Unlike many conventional chargers that apply full voltage and current immediately, this stage starts the charging process gently. By avoiding excessive gas and heat generation, it allows the battery’s electrolyte and cell charge levels to even out before the main charge begins. This helps prevent overcharging and improves the battery’s ability to receive a charge effectively.

STAGE 3 – BULK CHARGE

This is the primary charging phase. The charger operates at its maximum current output until the battery reaches a voltage preset based on its type (e.g., Lead Acid, AGM, Gel, or Calcium). The charging duration depends on the battery’s capacity and charge level.

STAGE 4 – ABSORPTION

During this stage, the charger gradually reduces current output as the battery approaches full charge, maintaining a constant voltage determined by the battery type (e.g., 14.3V for Gel, 14.8V for AGM, 15.6V for Calcium). Once the current drops to a specific threshold, charging pauses for the Analysis stage.

STAGE 5 – ANALYSIS

In this stage, the charger pauses charging for 1 minute to test the battery. If the voltage falls below 12.6V, the charger identifies the battery as faulty and triggers an alert. If the voltage is 12.6V or higher, the charger proceeds to the Boost stage.

STAGE 6 – BOOST CHARGE

After confirming the battery’s condition, the charger applies a higher voltage to ensure a full 100% charge. Current is limited to 25% of the charger’s maximum output. This stage ends either when the current drops to a preset level or after 15 minutes, moving to the Float stage.

STAGE 7 – FLOAT CHARGE

In the Float stage, the charger maintains a stable voltage (13.3V for Gel, 13.7V for AGM, or 13.8V for Calcium) with a minimal current output. This ensures the battery stays fully charged without overcharging. If the current drops below 1.2A or after 2 hours, the charger transitions to the Maintain stage. If the battery voltage drops below 12.4V due to a load, the charger restarts at the Absorption stage.

STAGE 8 – MAINTAIN

In the final stage, the charger applies a small, consistent pulse charge (1Hz at 13.3V) to keep the battery fully charged and ready for use. If a load causes the battery voltage to fall below 12.4V, the charger restarts from the Absorption stage.
